Losing a loved one to addiction brings so much pain and sorrow. Many people look for ways to turn their tragedy into an opportunity to make a positive impact. We’ve talked to families who want to make it easy for friends and family to give a donation in lieu of flowers so no one else experiences what they’re going through. Inspired by this idea, we created a new tool to do just that.
1. Tell us about your loved one or event
Let your family and friends know why you're asking for donations in lieu of flowers and upload a picture of your loved one.
2. Share your personal link
Add the link to an obituary, send it to family and friends, or post it to Facebook.
3. Only people with the link can donate
Family and friends can give a lifesaving gift in honor of your loved one and leave a heartfelt message to provide comfort during a challenging time.
Create a personal donation link
1. Memorial Services: During memorial services, display the personal link on screens or print it on programs, giving attendees the opportunity to contribute in memory of their loved one.
2. Obituaries: When creating an obituary, add the donation link so that people can easily find a way to support you.
3. Social Media Tributes: Share the personal link on your social media platforms to invite your broader network to join in remembering your loved one.
4. Anniversaries of Passing: Anniversaries can be hard. Using a personal link is a good way to show a grieving family you’re thinking about them.
