Start With Hope
An exciting new campaign — created by the Ad Council, the CDC, the National Council for Mental Wellbeing, and Shatterproof — encourages people to start their recovery journeys.
Millions of Americans live with substance use disorders and the overdose epidemic continues to claim lives.
There is not a “one size fits all” approach.
Addiction can affect people of any race, gender, income level, or social class. But because of societal inequities and biases, Black and Hispanic/Latinx people often have less access to treatment services and support. Together, we've created a national, culturally informed campaign to reach these groups with the resources and supports they need to start their journeys to recovery.
The Start With Hope campaign is changing lives:
- Public Service Announcements (PSAs) guide people to resources in English and Spanish.
- The PSAs feature the real stories of three individuals, highlighting the power and role of hope in their recovery journeys and demonstrating that there are resources available to support unique paths to recovery.
- The Start With Hope website has tools for Black and Hispanic/Latinx people from all walks of life.
