Remembering Maurice Reznik: A Leader, Champion, and Friend of Shatterproof
The Shatterproof family is deeply saddened by the passing of Maurice Reznik, a treasured member of our Board of Advisors, an extraordinary business leader, and a passionate advocate for causes that improve lives. Maurice passed away peacefully on July 28, 2026, surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer.
While Maurice was widely respected for his remarkable achievements in business, those of us who had the privilege of working alongside him knew him first and foremost as a man of character, compassion, and unwavering commitment to helping others.
Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Maurice immigrated to New York City as a child and went on to build an extraordinary life and career. Through hard work, vision, and determination, he rose through the ranks of the apparel industry to become CEO of Maidenform, where he led a period of transformational growth and helped establish the company as an industry leader. Throughout his distinguished career, he earned a reputation as a strategic thinker, an innovative leader, and someone whose judgment was sought by organizations across both the business and nonprofit sectors.
Yet for all of his professional success, Maurice never lost sight of what mattered most: family, community, and giving back.
Shatterproof benefited greatly from Maurice's leadership, wisdom, and generosity for many years. Maurice got involved with Shatterproof after having a family member go through the throes of addiction. As a member of our Board of Advisors, he brought not only deep business expertise but also a heartfelt belief in our mission to transform the addiction treatment system and end the stigma surrounding substance use disorder.
Maurice rappelled many buildings (Pasadena, Stamford, to name a few) in the early days of Shatterproof to raise awareness and funds for our mission. He also was a crucial part of Team Richards which brought four Shatterproof benefits to Richards in Greenwich, CT raising $2 million dollars to advance Shatterproof’s mission. He was also a regular with his family and friends by his side at our annual Shatterproof Walk to End Addiction in NYC.

Maurice understood that lasting change requires both courage and commitment. He challenged us to think bigger, act boldly, and remain focused on measurable impact. His guidance helped strengthen Shatterproof during critical moments of growth and positioned us to reach more individuals and families affected by addiction.
Beyond the boardroom, Maurice and his family demonstrated their commitment in countless ways. Through philanthropic support, advocacy efforts, and community engagement, they stood alongside Shatterproof in the fight to save lives and ensure that every person living with substance use disorder has access to quality treatment and support. His dedication reflected a genuine desire to help others and create a better future for generations to come.
Those who knew Maurice often speak of his relentless work ethic. His family remembers a phrase he lived by: "Never let anyone outwork you." But what made Maurice truly exceptional was pairing that determination with kindness, warmth, and humility. He pushed himself to excel while lifting others along the way.
He was a mentor to many, a trusted advisor, and a friend whose encouragement made people believe they could accomplish more than they thought possible. Whether offering guidance to a colleague, supporting a charitable cause, or celebrating the successes of those around him, Maurice gave generously of his time, energy, and heart.
Most importantly, Maurice was deeply devoted to his family. He spoke often and proudly about his wife, Joanie, his three sons, Max, Ricky, and Sammy, their families, and his grandson. His love for them was evident in everything he did, and they remained the center of his world throughout his life.
As we remember Maurice, we celebrate a life defined not simply by achievement, but by purpose. His legacy lives on in the countless people he mentored, the organizations he strengthened, the communities he supported, and the family he loved so deeply.
We are profoundly grateful for the impact Maurice had on Shatterproof and on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Maurice's wisdom, generosity, and unwavering belief in the power of people to create change will continue to inspire our work for years to come.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
