Reggie Whitten is Co-Founder of the Whitten Burrage Law Firm. In 2013, Reggie was inducted into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame, and in 2015, the University of Oklahoma inducted him into the Law School Hall of Fame, the Order of the Owl, and later that year, presented Reggie with an honorary Doctoral Degree for his contributions to the university, state and nation. Reggie was lead counsel representing the State of Oklahoma in its lawsuit against “Big Pharma,” the country’s first trial on the opioid epidemic.
In 2004, Reggie co-founded the Whitten-Newman Family Foundation in memory of his eldest son, Brandon, who passed away in 2002 as a result of a traffic accident caused by alcohol and prescription drug use disorder. In 2010, he co-founded F.A.T.E. (Fighting Addiction Through Education), and he has spoken to more than 27,500 high school and college students throughout Oklahoma about the dangers of addiction. Reggie co-produced Killing Pain, a docuseries about the Opioid Epidemic in Oklahoma. In 2020, Killing Pain won three Emmy awards.
One of the driving forces behind the creation of Oklahoma State University’s Center for Wellness & Recovery, a major new prevention and treatment center for Oklahomans based at the OSU medical school, Reggie serves as General Counsel for the National Center for Addiction Studies and Treatment Foundation, and its beneficiary, the National Center for Wellness and Recovery. In addition, Reggie is an adjunct professor at the Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He has been lecturing there on the subject of addiction since 2010.
Reggie is a co-founder of Arcadia Trails Center for Addiction and Recovery, a state of the art addiction treatment hospital in Edmond, Oklahoma.
Reggie has been the recipient of many honors due to his work to educate the public on addiction, including the Teen Recovery Solutions’ Preventionist of the Year Award, Oklahoma Citizen Advocates for Recovery & Treatment Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award, Peaceful Family Oklahoma’s Courage to Heal Out Loud Award, and the inaugural Melvin Moran Humanitarian Award from the Jasmine Moran Children’s Museum.
Reggie serves on the Boards of Directors for several non-profit organizations.
