What a difference a year can make. The global pandemic will forever define 2020 as a year of devastation and unprecedented change. For those with addiction, 2020 was particularly trying - according to the CDC, 2020 saw the highest number of fatal overdoses ever recorded in a single year; with that, unimaginable heartbreak for countless families. With this in mind, Shatterproof is more committed than ever to transforming the addiction treatment system. One year ago today, we launched ATLAS® – the first of its kind quality measurement system designed to help individuals and loved ones find treatment that meets their needs. We thank Delaware, Louisiana, Massachusetts, North Carolina, New York and West Virginia for being champions of ATLAS and the over 110,000 people who have used ATLAS to learn about treatment, find care, and give their feedback on treatment experiences.
Last month we announced that Florida, New Jersey, Oklahoma, and Pennsylvania will soon have access to ATLAS to search for treatment in their states.
Today we are so proud to also announce that California will join the ranks of the 10 other states that have already or will soon launch ATLAS! By the end of next year, 40 percent of the U.S. will have access to ATLAS in their states which means that our loved ones who struggle with substance use disorder will have the ability to search for quality treatment close to them. These are important steps to reverse the addiction crisis our nation is facing and to help those in need get help.
As we reflect on one year of ATLAS and look to a fast-growing future for this important resource at this critical time of need, we could not be more grateful for the recognition of some our nation’s most incredible leaders.
Thank you, Regina LaBelle, Acting Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy, for recognizing the contributions that ATLAS has made over this past year to align with the nation’s priorities to advance quality care!
Thank you, Tom McLellan, founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors at the Treatment Research Institute, and former Deputy Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy, for not only providing guidance on ATLAS development and implementation, but for also recognizing why ATLAS is so important. As Tom notes, ATLAS is valuable not just for those who work in addiction, but also for the spouses, siblings, family, and friends of individuals touched by addiction.
Thank you, Leah Binder, President and CEO of The Leapfrog Group, for recognizing the contributions that ATLAS has made over this past year to advance quality care, and the importance of transparency in the addiction space.
Thank you to all who have helped make this transformative work possible. We look forward to another year of significant growth and positive change!
