What Christopher was like

My brother had a huge heart filled with compassion for others. He was my best friend, my confidante, my protector, my champion. He inspired me, made me laugh, and gave me self worth.

Fondest memories of Christopher

He carried a portfolio of all my drawings from art school to all the multiple places he lived and displayed them up on his walls. He had a goofy sense of humour. He was the best uncle to my son, never forgot a birthday, he was the only man besides my husband that my son instinctively trusted when he was a baby.

How Christopher will be missed

His strength and enormous capacity to love. A couple of years before he was killed, Denis wrote a letter to our abusive dad, forgiving him, something I could never do. In that moment, my little brother became wiser and stronger than me. I know he would even be the first to forgive the men who killed him.

How Christopher will be remembered

He rescued a teenage girl stuck in a clothing donation box, when everyone else just drove by laughing at her. He bought paintings from the homeless man who lived in the alley. He befriended the person who ticketed his car on the street. He used his grocery money to buy a plane ticket for his girlfriend to visit her kids in another province. On a trip to Indonesia, while other tourists bargained in the markets, my brother paid over the asking price - saying they needed the money more than he did.
