Symone Bounds

As a procurement and public policy enthusiast, Symone Bounds has shown her passion for the field in several different capacities. Most recently, Symone served as the Operations Manager for the University of MS Medical Center. Within this position, Symone was the liaison between the Contracts Administration Office and outside entities such as contracted vendors and other State of MS oversight agencies. Symone has served the great State of MS within the role of policy management and procurement as the previous Procurement Card Administrator and Director of Marketing and Card Programs with the Department of Finance and Administration. As a Certified MS Purchasing Agent and Certified MS Fleet Manager, Symone has been committed to assisting state agencies and expanding her knowledge in the field.

Symone is involved with many organizations centered around her love for helping others, beloved Alma Mater – MS University for Women, and procurement. As a previous member of the MS Association of Government Purchasing and Property Agents (MAGPPA), Symone was awarded the Roy Saye Award and the Purchasing Agent of the Year Award in 2019 and 2016 respectively. Symone has served MAGPPA as secretary, President-Elect, President, and Conference chair. As a proud member of the Pike County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Symone serves on the sisterhood, technology, and community development committees. Within her committee work, she is devoted to finding creative ways to engage the amazing members of her sisterhood while impacting the community. Most recently, Symone has been accepted as a provisional member of the Junior League of Jackson. Excited is an understatement as she embarks upon this new journey of partnering with women doing great work to give back, helping those in need, and finding ways to stay involved in the community around us.

As a proud member of the long blue line and graduate of MS University for Women, Symone is an active member of the MUW Alumni Association (MUWAA). Within the Alumni Association, she serves in several different roles with different organizations. Currently, Symone serves on the MUWAA Board of Directors as the Strategy and Support Chair and the first African American President-Elect.

Symone has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Paralegal Studies with a minor in Business with an honors distinction in Accountancy from MS University for Women. She received her Master’s Degree in Public Policy and Administration from MS State University. You can now find her completing her Doctorate of Philosophy Degree in Public Policy and Administration from Jackson State University.

As she has a servant’s heart, Symone loves volunteering, being involved with her church, and sitting on her church’s operating Board of Directors as the financial secretary. Symone is a lover of life, traveling, friends and family, and her precious dog Sammie.
