Susan Furtney is Shatterproof's Chief Impact Officer, leading Shatterproof's impact portfolio, including treatment quality initiatives, prevention, public education, healthcare partnerships, research, policy and advocacy, and grassroots engagement.
Susan brings three decades of leadership experience across the health ecosystem including hospital, payer, pharma, consulting and community-based organizations. During her career, Susan led organizational transformation efforts within healthcare systems and nonprofits, oversaw major strategic initiatives, built innovative community partnerships, and championed data-informed approaches to improving health and well-being. Her experience spans healthcare delivery, behavioral health integration, community engagement, policy, and organizational strategy.
Susan joins Shatterproof from Health Leads, a national non-profit organization, where she was the founding Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) leading development, innovation and growth initiatives. Prior to Health Leads, Susan spent seven years in senior leadership roles at the State University of New York (SUNY) Upstate University Hospital. She was the CSO for the health system leading regional expansion efforts, business development and strategic initiatives. Prior to the CSO role, Susan served as the Administrator for ambulatory services, providing strategic and operational oversight for 28 primary and specialty care clinics serving a 17-county region in Central New York.
Susan received her Bachelor of Science in Public Health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her Master of Public Health from Emory University. She is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and a member of the Make-A-Wish Central New York Board of Trustees. She lives in Syracuse, NY with her husband and daughter.
