Supporters Like You Made Our Challenge Successful

Each year, the Shatterproof community comes together to celebrate, honor, support and remember loved ones who’ve been affected by or died from addiction. While the COVID-19 pandemic has prevented us from physically coming together at our annual 5K Run/Walks this year, we were able to gather for our 2020 virtual event: The Shatterproof Stronger Than Addiction Challenge.

For the month of September, we challenged everyone to choose a bold action to show how they were stronger than addiction and then on September 26, we came together for a celebratory event headlined by Grammy-winning musician Melissa Etheridge.

The results were incredible.  We had participants more than 2,200 participants from all 50 states, Canada, and the UK who raised over $1M.  Everyone tackled the challenge in their own way.  Some biked while others ran.  Some dyed their hair and got tattoos while others created a new work of art.  People wrote music, danced, sang, and most of all, celebrated and supported this amazing cause.  Here's the highlight reel from the event!

The celebration event was nothing short of amazing.   Dr. Nzinga Harrison, Host of the In Recovery podcast from Lemonada Media, hosted the virtual celebration. American Singer-Songwriter Melissa Etheridge put on a special intimate performance.  Shatterproof Founder & CEO Gary Mendell greeted our audience and Dr. Gary Tsai, Interim Division Director, Medical Director and Science Officer for the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health’s Substance Abuse Prevention and Control (SAPC) Division spoke.  In case you missed it, you can stream the broadcast here.

From the bottom of our hearts we thank everyone who fundraised for the Stronger Than Addiction Challenge.  We know that fundraising is not easy, and it is especially hard this year given the circumstances.  Despite the challenges placed in front of them, the following teams and individual participants showed up, worked hard and made it into our list of Top Ten Fundraisers and Teams. And of course, none of this would have been possible without the support of our sponsors.

Overall, we are so proud of our first ever Stronger Than Addiction Challenge. Loved ones were memorialized. Communities were helped. Shame was diminished. Those in recovery were celebrated.  We applaud and thank all of you for your support, your voice, and the example you set for everyone as we continue to help save lives.
