Listen Now: Sam Arsenault Talks Provider Ratings and Cutting Through the Chaos of Addiction Treatment

Buying a new car? Choosing a refrigerator? Selecting a restaurant or hotel? You’ve probably consulted one of many trusted consumer-oriented websites to gather information about your choices. This may have helped you steer clear of poor service, or more importantly improved safety and reduced potential hazards. But if you’ve ever searched for addiction treatment, that process was likely not as seamless. It’s incredibly challenging to know whether addiction treatment programs offer medical care that aligns with evidence-based best practices, and many families don’t know what to look for in a high-quality treatment program.

In November 2017, Shatterproof released the National Principles of Care , highlighting core components of quality addiction treatment that are demonstrated to improve patient outcomes. We are now working to hold the industry accountable to a higher standard of care while creating a system that makes quality information transparent and accessible to those looking for care.

In this episode of the podcast Listening In (with Permission), our Director of National Treatment Quality Initiatives, Sam Arsenault, talks with Suzanne Delbanco, Executive Director of Catalyst for Payment Reform, about the Shatterproof Provider Rating System, and how it will fill this information gap.
